About the Founder

Hikmet Süha Ersöz is a pioneering figure in Cappadocia's hospitality and architectural preservation scene, recognized for developing the region's very first boutique cave hotel in Ürgüp.

Originally a law graduate who spent time in Italy and worked for his family's business in Akşehir, Ersöz arrived in Cappadocia in 1979 as a tourism volunteer and worked in the Tourist Information Office in Ürgüp.

In 1987, he purchased his first historical cave house in Ürgüp. By 1990, he opened Cappadocia’s very first boutique cave hotel, Esbelli Evi, setting a massive trend for what would eventually become the region's signature accommodation style.

Over a span of roughly 25 to 30 years, Ersöz expanded his footprint by acquiring and restoring 12 adjacent traditional structures, combining cave rooms and historical stone masonry.

In recent years, after operating his Esbelli Evi Hotel for decades, Ersöz shifted his focus toward independent, highly curated historical home rentals allowing travelers to experience authentic Cappadocian residential architecture.
